Are we in a Democracy or a Demo-cry-see?

India- search wikipedia for it and u get the result, sovereign socialist DEMOCRATIC republic. But are we really in a democracy, is this really working for us? a question which probably many of us would have pondered about. Before moving on all of us should really ask ourselves "What has democracy achieved in india?", it has rather slowed down everything. Democrats may proudly pronounce that our country is progressing and that were achieving massive GDP growth etc. but the truth remains that this is all due to FDI and the IT boom. If Microsoft sets shop in Inida today its because were providing cheap labour and we have a slight technical advantage, how long will it take for these IT bigwigs to move away? The beurocrats sadly are too engrossed in counting their votes and do nothing to improve the infrastructure or allied issues. A road project was laid down in Old Mahablipuram Road, Chennai approximately one year back, the gleaming board announced "The road of our dreams is under construction", but sadly that road still remains a distant dream. Politicians moving in and out, one politician erases all the good that his predecessor has done and states proudly that the predecessor did nothing, and it countinues as a cycle. The most notable feature of the Indian democracy would be the proceedings in the parliament, even a die-hard wwe fan would accept that its the best wrestling expreience he would have ever witnessed. Corruption, Red-tapism are all synonimous with Indian Democracy,.Politicians can legislate all they want, policies are hardly ever enforced and it just adds to the massive bureaucratic red tape that hinders any progress in the country. Is this what we want in our country? Indian democracy has a long way to go.....
PS: Attached a video of the proceedings in the legislative assembly, not sure of the place time etc., but aint it a gem? even Yokozuna cant beat that!!!
